“There’s no guarantee he will walk straight back in but we certainly know the quality and experience of the guy. He’s a winner, he has got that kind of mentality and he’s the type of player I would like to have in my squad at this moment.”
The St Andrew’s injury list is slowly but surely diminishing.
David Murphy has been declared fit after his thigh problem and is in full training.
Stuart Parnaby (thigh) is expected to join in on Monday as is Kemy Agustien (groin), while James McFadden has targeted the Wolves game on April 6 as his comeback from knee surgery.
“He’s at a good level,” said McLeish. “He saw the Scotland squad announced the other day and said he couldn’t believe he wasn’t in it – that’s how positive he’s feeling.
“We saw Liam Ridgewell come back quickly, Djimi Traore is training very strongly at the moment, although not with the group.
“So it’s going to be the selection headache time, which is good.”
