Birmingham City boss cranks up pressure on Wolverhampton Wanderers

BLUES boss Alex McLeish has cranked up the pressure on rivals Wolves by insisting – ‘your lead doesn’t frighten us’.

The West Midlands rivals will lock horns again on Saturday but a place in the fourth round of the FA Cup rather than Championship points will be on offer.

So Blues will have to turn their attentions to today’s visitors to St Andrew’s, Swansea City, to chip into Wolves’ seven-point lead at the top of the table.

“I still say in this league that you can never take anything for granted,” said McLeish. “Teams can quickly catch up – a couple of draws, a couple of wins. The reason why Wolves were ahead of us by six points a couple of weeks ago was because we had drawn more games than them so it just shows if you don’t get the three points then you can quickly be caught.”
