He has already netted nine Premier League goals, and one in the UEFA Cup, and believes training with Fabio Capello’s England squad will further improve his game. “I just need to make sure I’m in the squad for the World Cup and the best way to do that is to keep working hard to get in there,” he added.

“It’s good playing with the sort of players who are playing in the Champions League and big competitions.

“To be training with people like that is good and you can learn a lot.”
