Light bite at 19th century pub in Stourport-on-Severn

Food brightens up the gloomy interior

SITUATED by Stourport Bridge, Ye Olde Crown Inn is a 19th century pub, rebuilt in the 1930s.

On sunny days, the outside terrace overlooks the river and the funfair (albeit you have to look across the car park first.)

The inside is rather dark and dreary, the way many Wetherspoon pubs can be. But we found a nice bright window to sit next to, and found it pleasant enough.

I had a chicken and salad wrap (£3.59) with chips (an extra 70p). Whilst it wasn’t exceptional, it was a nice, light tea and felt quite healthy.

My hubby, Adam, had a crayfish ciabatta (£3.59) with a side order of tortilla chips with dips (£2.59). He enjoyed his meal, too.

We decided it was cheaper to order our toddler Frankie a meal off the value menu than the children’s menu so he happily tucked into ham, egg and chips (£2.99).

We each indulged in chocolate brownies with cream and ice cream to follow (£3.59 for the adult portions and £1.39 for the child’s).

The staff were helpful and friendly and it was good to be able to park right outside the pub, although we did have to pay for parking.

The bill, including a pint, a soft drink and a couple of hot chocolates, came to just under £30.
