A LEADING children’s charity is facing a credit crunch crisis.
Workers at Childline say the world economic slump has led to a huge drop in donations from people and businesses.
An army of street collectors has now hit the streets of the Midlands in a bid to boost the charity’s falling income.
One told the Sunday Mercury: “We are struggling to raise money because of the economic crisis.
“When people tighten their belts, charities are often hit hardest.
“Childline provides such a valuable help for kids in the UK and the Midlands, but we cannot answer every call that we receive, because of a lack of volunteers.
‘‘The worry is that some of those most at need will slip through the net.’’
