HJON Fratelli has been busy since his band began an indefinite break in Summer 2009. Having released an album as half of Codeine Velvet Club, he’s now going it alone. The result is a new Fratellis album in everything but name. From the bolshie rock sound to the infectious riffs and singalong choruses, it’s all there. There’s more than a hint of Elvis Costello in the likes of Magic & Mayhem and Oh Shangri La, while The Band Played Just For Me and 60s-styled Give Me My Heart Back McGuire are highlights. JD
