POST WAR YEARS
The Greats And The Happenings (Wealth)
wLEAMINGTON Spa art-pop quartet Post War Years combine claustrophobic electronica with the scratchy, angular guitars of Gang Of Four. Opener The Red Room – built on technical, tricky drumming – sets out stall then skips along into the Joy Division-styled bassline of Death March, which suggests single success. But it’s the staccato White Lies, already a live favourite despite its chicken clucking intro, that is the clear standout. Mainstream success is probably beyond them, but Post War Years are definitely a band to keep an eye on this year. JD
