wWHISPER it quietly but Dublin songbird Laura Izibor is about to take the tarnished crown of Amy Winehouse with this dazzling R&B debut, showcasing a remarkable soul vocal that’ll send shivers down your spine. She’s versatile, too, from the chart pop of Shine to the soulful Don’t Stay, and from bluesy The Worst Is Over to the urban Yes (I’ll Be Your Baby). Best, though, is the full-blown gospel soul of Mmm, which is simply stunning. This is better than Macy Gray’s debut and sets the bar high for others to follow. Let the truth be told, indeed. PC
