Kid Rock - Rock 'n' Jesus

(Atlantic)

They have done everything under the sun to relaunch Kid Rock as a redneck, and now they’re re-releasing his recent album, which was roundly, and rightly, ignored first time out.

It’s already topped the US charts thanks to Lynyrd Skynyrd soundalike single All Summer Long (which incorporates a snatch of Sweet Home Alabama) but it’s a schizophrenic set, half of which comprises good ‘ol boy Lynyrd licks with the rest consisting of sub-Kiss pop rockola.

Hit single So Hott is a grubby sex fantasy while Amen finds Rock guilty of being white, rather than of inflicting this turgid twaddle on us all.
