Jackie De Shannon - Don't Turn Your Back On Me

(Beat Goes On)

YOU would have thought that the combination of being a good singer, a fine songwriter and drop-dead gorgeous would be enough to guarantee stardom for Jackie de Shannon. In her homeland USA it did, but here in the UK, sadly it did not.

As well as having several big hit singles Jackie was also a very successful songwriter, with credits on the Searchers’ When You Walk In The Room, Marianne Faithfull’s Come And Stay With Me, Brenda Lee’s Dum Dum and her own million seller Put A Little Love In Your Heart.

Another massive American hit was her version of Bacharach and David’s What The World Needs Now Is Love.

They’re collected here in a double-CD which also features the album This Is Jackie De Shannon.

Also included on this super, budget-priced collection is Jackie’s original version of The Searchers chart-topper Needles And Pins, plus covers of I’m Gonna Be Strong and Don’t Let The Sun Catch You Crying.
