Various - Power To The Motown People

(Motown)

HERE are 30 tracks on two CDs featuring Civil Rights anthems and political soul songs from the years 1968 to 1975.

It’s not as serious as it sounds, though, with some absolute Tamla Motown gems included here.

Included are Marvin Gaye’s What’s Going On and Inner City Blues, Diana Ross and the Supremes’ I’m Living In Shame and The Young Folks, and Gladys Knight and the Pips’ Friendship Train.

Then, of course, there’s former Tamworth resident, the late Edwin Starr’s Cloud Nine and Stop The War Now.
