HE’S the Minneapolis singer songwriter who opened Jack Johnson’s gig at the NIA and this is his sixth album, although the first to be released in the UK.
Recorded in a cabin in the woods on a laptop, it’s a curious collection of songs ranging from oddball opener Never Knew Your Name, which balances a minor key vocal and meandering instrumental, to the wry humour of Your New Man, a terrible tale of jealousy recorded live.
Elsewhere, Something About Your Love nods to Neil Young, and the harmonica textured Going Back To New Orleans is brief but excellent.
