Crystal Gayle - Mississippi / These Days

Edsel)

LORETTA Lynn’s youngest sister, Crystal Gayle is one of the most consistently successful country stars ever.

These two albums, paired together on one CD, were produced by country music legend Allen Reynolds, who has also produced Garth Brooks, Don Williams and Emmy Lou Harris.

Miss The Mississippi, originally released in 1979, peaked at No 3 on the USA country charts and spawned hit singles It’s Like We Never Said Goodbye, Half The Way and The Blue Side.

These Days, released in 1980, reached No 6 and included country chart-toppers Too Many Lovers, and If You Ever Change Your Mind, as well as interesting cover versions of Bobby Bland’s Ain’t No Love In The Heart Of The City and BB King’s I Just Can’t Leave Your Love Alone.

I once met Crystal Gayle in Memphis, Tennessee in the late 1970s and what a lovely, petite Southern belle she was. She had the longest hair I have ever seen – down to her ankles!
