Keith LeBlanc - Chess Moves

(Chess)

Keith LeBlanc

SUGARHILL session skinsman Keith Leblanc delves back into the Chess blues and soul archives, and drags classic cuts screaming into the 21st century with drum and bass remixes.

The purists will be aghast but the exercise breathes new life into the likes of Howlin' Wolf's Killing Floor, here given new drive and urgency.

Among the best are more subtle updates of Memphis Slim's Mother Earth and Etta James' My Dearest Darling, the latter emerging Moby-like as a possible contemporary chart single.
