Don McLean - Tapestry

(Beat goes on)

This was Don Mclean's first album, recorded and released in 1968, when he was virtually unknown. He titled his debut LP Tapestry a full year before Carole King's identically named Grammy award-winning classic album.

In years to come Don McLean would go on to write the anthemic American Pie, and pay tribute to his favourite artist Vincent Van Gogh with the chart-topping Vincent.

He was also the singer-songwriter who was the inspiration for Killing Me Softly With His Song.

His singing and songwriting talents are much to the fore on this first album, from gorgeous opening track Castles In The Air, and one of the most romantic ballads ever written, And I Love You So.
