Review - Roddy Frame @ Birmingham Glee Club 16.11.08

THE gig at the Glee last night was brilliant. Confirmation that this man must be one of the finest singer/songwriters the country has produced. Timeless classics from "High Land Hard Rain" given a new twist by the maestro's mastery of the guitar sounding fresh and relevant today.

Material from his large back catalogue particularly "Surf" and a couple of new songs illustrate that his songwriting ability has never waned. His lyrical content and the crystal clarity of his voice urge your attention.

The warm manner and sharp wit with which he handles his tuning interludes only enhance the experience of seeing this artist live.

The only surprise is that he seems genuinely modest and in awe of the adulation and standing ovation he so rightly recieves.

Stand aside James Blunt and all you pretenders the King will reclaim his throne!
