Birmingham pupils given exclusive screening of cricket film Fire In Babylon

Birmingham schoolchildren have taken part in special screening event of the critically acclaimed new documentary Fire In Babylon, which tells the story of the all-conquering West Indies cricket team of the 1970s and early 1980s.

The exclusive screening at Hodge Hill Girls School was part of a special tour organised by education charity FILMCLUB, which has been set up to inspire young people through film.

Sixty pupils watched the new documentary, and took part in a discussion and Q&A session with the film's creative executive Mia Bays.

The pupils heard about Mia’s role to market and distribute the documentary.

Fire In Babylon producer Charles Steel, who has taken part in previous dates on the tour, said: "This film is an inspirational story about a group of people who acted as a powerful voice for West Indians around the world, during a time of great turbulence.

"Part of our ambition in making this film is that it will be seen by kids all over the country who will not only be entertained, but take away some kind of inspiration themselves from the film."
