You Don’t Mess With The Zohan (12a)

ADAM Sandler is the greatest Israeli soldier that ever lived – who gives it all up to become a hairdresser.

That’s the very silly plot of this film, which thinks the Arab/Israeli conflict is good comic material.

Sandler plays Zohan Dvir, the Mossad agent who fakes his own death to fulfil his dream of becoming a hair stylist in New York.

He almost pulls it off, despite claiming to be Australian, but then Arab cabbie Rob Schneider recognises him and his arch enemy The Phantom (an over-acting John Turturro) shows up.

Sandler boasts a toned torso and a supersized crotch which all the ladies love, but he only has eyes for beautiful Palestinian hairdresser Emanuelle Chriqui.

There are a couple of quite funny jokes, but they are buried beneath others so repetitive they are flogged to death.

Sandler only has himself to blame, as he also wrote and produced this mess.
