Teeth (18)

Teeth

The best thing about this movie is its original premise. It’s a shame an interesting concept is not particularly well executed, Dawn (Jess Weixler) is a pretty but prudish teenager, a strong advocate of The Promise, whose members pledge to abstain from sex before marriage.

She’s drawn to schoolmate Tobey, but when he forces himself on her, she reveals a set of mutant teeth between her legs. In scenes which will have male viewers wincing, the teeth bite off a tender part of Tobey’s anatomy.

Terrified of her new power, she visits a gynaecologist who tries to calm her down, saying: “I’m not going to bite you.” Little does he know how she’ll bite him!

As Dawn decides to use her ability against aggressive men, it’s only a matter of time before a gruesome fate befalls her nasty step-brother Brad (John Hensley from Nip/Tuck, sporting weird facial hair.)

Blackly amusing in places, Teeth features a good performance from Weixler, who tries to rein in the melodrama.
