Dec 27 2008
had gamers frantically bashing the right colours to be axe gods and demon drummers.
FIFA and Pro Evo went head-to-head again, and Fifa hit the back of the net. A close call though, a game of two halves. Don King’s Prizefighter received a lot of criticism, although I loved it!
Mass Effect, Biohazard, Alone In The Dark, Dead Space were huge, huge titles, with brilliant atmosphere, gameplay and storylines of the highest quality.
Controversial Grand Theft Auto – Rockstar hit the hadlines again, although it was really was more of the same – just with bells and whistles.
But the 360 game of the year is (dramatic pause) Fallout 3.
Cinematic, epic, touching, gripping, dangerous, adventurous, exciting – a rollercoaster of emotions – this game really did shake me, and many others, to our foundations. A stunningly presented game with a huge storyline, perfect setting and fascinating gameplay.
The RPG-meets-first person shooter is set in a post-apocalyptic Washington DC (after you have escaped the bunker!)
Not only game of the year on the 360 but game of the year full stop.
