ROSS Jarman from indie band The Cribs is recovering after being cut “really badly” by a broken shower in Birmingham.
The drummer was freshening up after the band’s show at the O2 Academy on Wednesday night when the glass shower door fell off and shattered into tiny shards, injuring him in the process.
Jarman posted a picture of the blood-stained cubicle afterwards and tweeted about the incident on Twitter.
“I took a shower after the show – the glass door fell off, smashed into pieces, cutting my hands & feet really badly,” he said, later adding: “Yes, that is blood on the picture. Needless to say I was happy certain areas were unharmed.”
The Cribs’ management remained tight-lipped as to whether the incident took place at the O2 Academy itself or in a hotel.
It is not believed Ross needed hospital treatment and he was back on stage at the Brixton Academy, in London, the following night.
A spokesperson for O2 refused to comment on the incident but said she had received no reports of a broken shower at the city centre venue.
Earlier the Wakefield band paid tribute to their Birmingham fans for making the show such a good one.
“Good to be back in beautiful Birmingham, had such a good time playing. Security told us 132 people came over the barrier. Beat that Brixton!” they wrote.
It’s not the first time the accident-prone band, made up of brothers Ross, Ryan and Gary Jarman and ex-Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr, have made headlines for glass-related injuries.
In 2006, singer Ross was hospitalised twice after throwing himself onto the Kaiser Chiefs table in a night of high drama at the ShockWaves NME Awards.
The frontman went to hospital and needed stitches after landing on glasses and bottles.
He insisted on returning to the party but was later found bleeding and a second ambulance was called.
An eyewitness said: “He threw himself onto the table, and it was apparent he needed treatment. He had stitches, and came back to continue the party. But after about ten minutes in the pub someone called an ambulance.”
