Facebook, which is mainly aimed at teenagers and students, allows members to share pictures and create online profiles.

Several other police officers are using the site to trade pornographic pictures and poke fun at criminals - and one openly bisexual officer poses without his shirt on.

Facebook also allows members to join groups which many policemen and women are using to get their own back on dozy criminals.

Several have signed up to a group called "Instead of F**k the Police, how about you stop breaking the law, retard?"

A number of officers also have cartoons and pictures with lewd or racist captions on their sites.

One profile contains a photo of two black men, one pushing the other in a wheel-barrow, which carries the words: 'Grand Theft Auto: Somalia.'
